The urgency for action to end Gender-based Violence as we approach the last 7 years of the UNiTE by 2030 Initiative and the UN Decade of Action, has inspired the Orange3rybe Africa Project. The goal is to mobilize collective action, lead the charge on local and community-driven conversations among generations, and activate responsive solutions for critical ground-breaking results, to deliver a safe and violence-free society for women and girls.
The Orange3rybe Africa Project seeks to:
F-acilitate
capacity building in public leadership spaces and adopt ‘Loudvocates against Violence’ to eliminate violence against women in parliament.
E-ngage
Civil Society Organizations to deepen awareness, and stay updated on relevant approaches for community-based action to prevent and respond effectively.
M-obilize
multi-stakeholder partnerships to drive policy development and policy action to prevent Violence Against Women and Girls.
A-ctivate
the strengthening of protection and support mechanisms to prevent and eliminate violence, harassment, threats, intimidation and discrimination against women, human rights defenders and women’s rights advocates/activists in line with international standards.
L-ocalize
long-term opportunities to promote women and girls’ leadership and their meaningful participation in political, policy making and decision-making spaces from national to local levels including in development, humanitarian and peace processes.
E-stablish
innovative financing mechanisms to ensure sustainable and adaptable funding to empower women and girls’ rights organizations and innovative solutions working to end violence against women and girls.
In spite of the significant global advocacy and awareness drive, Violence Against Women & Girls remains the most widespread and pervasive human rights violation worldwide affecting more than an estimated 1 in 3 women (a figure that has remained largely unchanged over the last decade).
